SES Mechanical Services: A Legacy of Progress

Since 1979 SES Mechanical has played a role in shaping the building services sector throughout Colchester, Essex and the South East of England. Our transformation from a small local business to a prominent mechanical services provider in the South East of England mirrors the growth and changes within the industry itself characterised by innovation, flexibility and a steadfast dedication to quality.

1979-1989

The Beginnings

In 1979 Peter Hazelton established Southern Engineering Services (SES) focusing initially on commercial and industrial diesel systems. During this period SES built a reputation for reliability and technical expertise laying the groundwork for expansion.

1990-1999

Expansion & Adaptation

The 1990s witnessed SES diversifying into building services. We embraced computer aided design to enhance project planning significantly enhancing our capabilities. A significant milestone was the completion of our major public sector project marking our entry, into larger scale endeavors.

2000-2009

Entering The New Era

As we entered the millennium we rebranded as SES Mechanical Services to better reflect our core strengths. During this era we introduced energy HVAC solutions. Launched a division, for renewable energy services establishing ourselves as leaders in sustainable building services.

2010-2018

Innovation & Sustainability

The decade from 2010 to 2018 was filled with advancements. We brought in heating and hot water plant services emphasized smart building technologies and developed energy management systems. In 2018 Will Johnson was promoted to the role of Director injecting insights into our leadership team.

2019-2020

40 Year Celebrations

As we stepped into our decade of operation we commemorated our 40 years in business with a renewed focus on innovation. Luke Morgan-Beale joined in January 2019 as a Design Engineer and Contracts Manager and by 2022 had been promoted to director in recognition of his contributions to the company. By July 2023 Martyn Mead also assumed a directorship role further strengthening our leadership team.

2023

New Ownership

A pivotal moment arrived in November 2023 when Will, Luke and Martyn completed a management buyout. This move led to James Peter Hazelton and Paul Hazelton stepping down as directors. It signifies a chapter for SES by blending our established heritage with our strong plans and visions for the future of the company.

Looking Towards the Future

Under new leadership SES Mechanical remains steadfast in its goal of influencing the future of building services. Drawing upon our history we are poised to introduce innovations that cater to the changing needs of modern buildings with confidence and expertise.
